Dear Poultry Pageant Contestant,
We are so honored that you are considering entering, as a contestant, in the West Virginia Poultry Pageant. On behalf of the West Virginia Poultry Association and the Pageant Committee, we extend our best wishes to each of you!
Attached you will find forms that MUST be completed before competing in the competition. It is essential that you type or print these forms as they will be used by the speaker and the judges. Please use the checklist included in the packet to ensure that all forms have been completed and submitted.
*Entry Fees: It is encouraged that contestants seek sponsorship for their entry fee from local businesses or individuals to promote them and their business. If you need assistance with the entry fee, please let me know. Please include either check or money order within your packet upon mailing.
Teen: $75
Please take the time to encourage other young ladies to participate in this wonderful opportunity. Pageants help to build character, self-confidence, develop public speaking skills and friendships, and most of all help build a love for community service.

Rehearsal: Very Important! You will not be judged during rehearsal. Dress comfortably and bring your pageant shoes if you would like. No parents or coaches allowed during this time.

Areas of Competition:
Interview: Appropriate dress for this includes a suitable dress for a job interview. You will be judged on personality, speaking ability, appearance and natural beauty. You will talk with a panel of 3 judges for 5 minutes. You will present and be judged on your EVENT PROMO at the beginning of your interview. Interview times will be provided at a later date.
Commercial Information/promo: Each contestant must come up with a 30 second jingle/commercial about the WV Poultry Festival. This is your way of inviting people to our festival. This year, our festival is July 13th-20th, 2024. Please seek research of the WV Poultry Association and WV Poultry Festival which will help you compose your commercial.
Introduction: Appropriate attire for this will be jeans and t-shirt. Shoes are of your choice. NO HOLES in jeans! T-Shirt will be provided. During this phase, you will introduce yourself. Something as simple as where you are from and your name will work! If you have a sponsor, this is a great time to include them!
Evening Gown: This is the most beautiful phase of competition. You will be judged on your natural beauty, stage presence, poise, and overall appearance. Gown must be floor length and appropriate for your age.
Scoring: Preliminary judging will be on interview, introductions and evening gown. The finalists will be determined by highest scores. These finalists will then have an onstage interview question that will be judged and be added to their score. From these scores, the Teen Queen and Queen will be selected.
General Rules:
NO parents or friends in dressing room before, during or after competition. Help will be provided.
NO cell phones allowed in dressing room. If you are caught with a device during any part of the competition you will be asked to leave and disqualified from the competition.
Contestants must conduct themselves in a lady-like manner as they are representatives of the WV Poultry Association.
Teen contestants must be a WV Resident between the ages of 12 and no older than 15 at pageant date. All contestants must be single, never have been married, never have borne children, and agree not to be or become pregnant during the pageant year.
Lodging:
Should you be traveling and need a room, you will need to make reservations at one of the local hotels. This will be done at your own expense. Lodging Facilities: South Branch Inn, Rt. 220 Moorefield WV 304-538-2033 or 1-800-856-9167.
The Queen will be required to attend the Poultry Convention and Festival Events during Convention Week. Her court will also be required to attend events during the week. A schedule of events, specific to each contestant ranking will be provided the night of the pageant.

This information will not be used for any other purpose than for your daughter's safety. If she were our queen, safety is our concern while attending our weeklong festival.

WEST VIRGINIA POULTRY ASSOCIATION QUEEN/TEEN PAGEANT RELEASE OF LIABILITY
I will be voluntarily participating in the Miss West Virginia Poultry Festival Queen Pageant held July 13th, 2024, at the Moorefield High School in Moorefield WV. I understand the entry fee is required for Teen contestants. I am in good health and have no known illnesses or disabilities that prevent me from participating.
In consideration of my participation in any portion of the pageant activities, I hereby waive, release, and discharge all claims for damages or death, personal injury or property damage which I may have, or which may hereafter accrue to me, as a result of my said participation in these activities. This release is intended to discharge, in advance, the WVPA/Festival, Board of Directors, Pageant Committee/Director and all representatives of the WVPA from and against all liability arising out of or connected in any way with my participation in this event.
It is further understood and agreed that this waiver, release and assumption of risk is to be binding on my heirs and assigns.
